Your Toronto Zoo Recognized With Two Awards at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Annual Conference!

TORONTO, ON, October 3, 2025 - Your Toronto Zoo has been recognized with TWO incredible awards at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Annual Conference - and we couldn’t be prouder!

AZA’s Honors and Awards recognize the excellence, innovation, and impact of AZA-accredited members across the zoo and aquarium community. Every year, at the AZA Annual Conference, organizations are recognized for their outstanding achievements in animal care and wellbeing, education, conservation, research, diversity, and more.

The first award your Toronto Zoo received is the Angela Peterson Excellence in Diversity Award - which recognizes institutions that have made significant strides in creating influential and transformative programs in diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion – and that serve as catalysts for change for the organization and beyond.

Your Toronto Zoo’s Zoo For All is an organization-wide commitment to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion. This comprehensive program fosters a culture of belonging for staff, volunteers, and guests by embedding DEAI into daily practice across all departments. Its groundbreaking approach to community engagement—through strategic partnerships—demonstrates meaningful connection with the broader Toronto community.

This award recognizes our promise to create a place where everyone belongs. From staff and volunteers to every guest who walks through our gates, this award affirms our commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

The second award is the Marketing Excellence Award – for our Guardians of Wild campaign which coincided with your Toronto Zoo’s 50th anniversary in 2024 honouring five decades of conservation work while inspiring the next generation to protect wildlife and wild spaces.
