Your Toronto Zoo Achieves Level 4 Certification Through the Greenstep Sustainable Tourism Certification Program!

TORONTO, ON, Wednesday, August 12, 2026: We're proud to share news that your Toronto Zoo has achieved Level 4 Certification through the GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Certification Program, earning an overall score of 84% and placing us closer to the highest level of certification.

This internationally recognized certification reflects our commitment to embedding sustainability into everything we do - from caring for wildlife and conserving biodiversity to reducing our environmental footprint, strengthening community partnerships, advancing accessibility, and inspiring millions of guests to take action for people, wildlife, and wild spaces.

This achievement directly supports our Guardians of Wild Strategic Plan, which calls on us to lead with innovation, inspire environmental stewardship, and create a future where sustainability is embedded across every aspect of our operations and guest experience.

As Guardians of Wild, sustainability is a core part of who we are. This achievement recognizes the collective efforts of staff and volunteers across every division who are helping build a more resilient, innovative, and sustainable future for people, wildlife, and the planet.

GreenStep's independent assessment recognized your Toronto Zoo as a leader in sustainable tourism, highlighting our climate action initiatives, guest education, and organization-wide commitment to continual improvement.
