Your Toronto Zoo Receives Donation Through
TikTok’s #GivingSzn Campaign

Toronto, ON, Friday, April 1, 2022: Your Toronto Zoo and the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy are proud to be highlighted as part of TikTok’s Earth Month Programming, which will be featured in the app throughout April, and to have been the recipient of a donation from TikTok Canada through TikTok’s second annual #GivingSzn campaign. The donation will help to support the Zoo’s new outdoor orangutan habitat, which is currently under construction and expected to be completed in 2022.

Alongside select creators and non-profit organizations, your Toronto Zoo was selected to participate in #GivingSzn, a global campaign that ran in December 2021 and celebrated the TikTok community's culture of generosity. Your Toronto Zoo shared videos on TikTok including a video that detailed the new Sumatran Orangutan habitat the zoo is opening in 2022, giving the community the opportunity to make a donation to the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy in support of the Toronto Zoo.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from TikTok Canada in support of the Toronto Zoo’s new outdoor orangutan habitat”, says Beth Gilhespy, Executive Director of the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy. “This new habitat will enrich the lives of the orangutans here at the Toronto Zoo, allow for behavioural research that can be shared with other zoos and sanctuaries around the world, and create compelling educational opportunities to show Toronto Zoo guests how sustainable palm oil choices can help these critically endangered animals in the wild.”

The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy is a dedicated partner with the Toronto Zoo in the fight against extinction, and was established in 2019 to secure increased financial resources and support for the wildlife conservation work being carried out by the Toronto Zoo.

You can donate to the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy anytime at wildlifeconservancy.ca or over the phone at 416-392-9114.
