GARDIANS
OF WILD

SAVING AND PROTECTING SPECIES

On August 15, 2024, your Toronto Zoo celebrated its 50th Anniversary. This milestone marked a half-century of caring for wildlife and acknowledging the support of our guests, members, donors, volunteers, and community who have helped us become the place we are today.

We invite you to embark on this journey with us as we look forward to the next 50 years and what it means for conservation, education, animal wellbeing and environmental stewardship.

Together, let’s make a difference for wildlife, today and for the next 50 years.

GUARDIANS OF WILD

We are Guardians.
We are champions of habitats.
We are agents of change.
We learn and we teach.

We are Guardians.
With knowledge, compassion and understanding,
we nurture this generation and the next,
working in harmony with the natural world.

We are Guardians.
We exist so we can all exist, together.
And we will protect the house that every living thing calls home.

OUR MISSION

Connecting people, animals,
conservation science, and
traditional knowledge to
fight extinction.

OUR VISION

A world where people,
wildlife, and
wild spaces thrive.

BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF GUARDIANS

We’re inviting stakeholders, partners, and community members to join us in becoming Guardians of Wild.

What are Guardians of Wild? A strong and united group that takes action in support of threatened species and their habitats—here at your Toronto Zoo and around the world.

Why become one? Because conservation is a team sport. As we continue our efforts, we welcome all those who are equally committed to protecting wildlife to stand with us as Guardians of Wild.

How can I become a Guardian?

At Your Toronto Zoo, we want to inspire people like you to take action and change behaviours to improve our planet for both humans and animals. We invite you to reflect on actions you may already take or ones you can start taking to help make a difference. You too can be a Guardian of Wild.

Show your support by sharing one of our sample posts below about how you’ll commit to conservation. Don’t forget to tag @TheTorontoZoo and use the hashtag #GuardiansOfWild.
