July 15th is Arctic Sea Ice Day, and your Toronto Zoo is committed to protecting sea ice for species around the world.
Created by Polar Bears International (PBI), Arctic Sea Ice Day raises awareness about the rapidly changing Arctic ecosystem. Join us in the Tundra Trek for fun and educational activities, and learn more about how the loss of Arctic sea ice affects polar bears and other species around the globe.
Did you know? Sea ice serves as the earth's air conditioner, helping to keep our planet cool. It's also the basis of many food webs and is used by countless communities for transportation and access to food. Melting arctic sea ice impacts all of us including every animal on this planet.

Give a Toy, Save a Polar Bear!
Regular CO2 is part of Earth’s systems like plants, animals, and humans. Rampant CO2 is released when fossil fuels are burnt for energy to make toys. The toy industry is responsible for 26 million tonnes of CO2 annually. By recycling toys, we can reduce CO2 emissions and protect the Arctic home of polar bears and other wildlife!
This Arctic Sea Ice Day, be a Guardian of Polar Bears and all Arctic wildlife by bringing in your old, used toys to your Toronto Zoo!
Any toy, any shape, any condition – give your toy and the arctic a second life by choosing to recycle!

Behind-the-scenes experience at your Toronto Zoo’s polar bear habitat for up to four people!
No purchase required! Contest runs July 15, 2026. Entrants can complete the contest by finding six code words throughout your Toronto Zoo or by inputting six code words provided at facebook.com/thetorontozoo leading up to the contest day. Open to Canadian residents only, 18 years or older. One entry per email. The tour is valid for up to four people and must be redeemed by December 31, 2026. The winner will be randomly selected after July 20, 2026, and contacted via email.
