Small mouthed Salamander

- Larvae length 40-60mm
- Brownish to olive green body; 3-6 yellowish to olive green "saddles" or paired blotches along midline of back; heavily pigmented or mottled dorsal surface
- Short/small eye stripe; well pigmented throat
- Dorsal tail fin mottled with dark pigment
- Eggs: clusters of 6-30 attached to under water vegetation
- Hybridizes with Blue-Spotted Salamander; hybrids are female, and both adults and larvae appear similar to parent species
- Canadian population found only on Pelee Island in Lake Erie
