BUSH CAMP OVERNIGHT INFORMATION HANDBOOK


ACCOMMODATIONS & FACILITIES


TENTS

Bush Camp features 13 authentic African bush tents. They are made of heavy, waterproof canvas and are set on wooden platforms. Bush Camp can accommodate a total of 60 people. For family nights, one tent is assigned per family/per registration.

For group nights, group leaders and or teachers can assign tents upon arrival.

There are:

  • 11 small tents that fit 4 people
  • 2 large tents that fit 8 people

COTS & MATS

We provide cots and mats in our African bush tents for all campers based on tent capacity.

SHOWERS

There are no shower facilities at Bush Camp.

ELECTRICAL OUTLETS

Electrical outlets are limited and provided for medical equipment only.

TAPS/POTABLE WATER

There is one tap on site at Bush Camp with potable water in the common area for use for programming purposes.

WASHROOMS

Bush Camp participants have access to washrooms with toilets and sinks. The washrooms are located next to the Bush Camp site about 20 feet from the site gate. The washrooms are open all through the night and have an outdoor light that is on through the night for your convenience; however, we suggest bringing a flashlight to help.

There are no showers available at Bush Camp.

LIGHTING AT NIGHT


Please bring a flashlight as the evening programming takes place after dusk. There is lighting at night leading to the washroom facilities.

GEAR STORAGE FACILITY


If you choose to visit the Zoo the DAY OF/AFTER your overnight, and do not have access to a vehicle (personal or bus) during your visit, then we can offer you the option to store your gear in a secured storage space at the Education Centre. Please book at least 10 days prior to your stay via email at [email protected].

PICNIC SHELTER


There is a picnic shelter on the Bush Camp site which is used as a common space for the overnight program.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY

The Bush Camp site includes a wheelchair accessible tent with ramp access.
