Camper Checklist

How to Prepare for Camp

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Here is a checklist of how you can prepare your child for camp each day:
  • Nut Free Lunch
Nuts and products that may contain nuts/traces of nut, are not permitted at camp. Please send store bought goods in original packaging or with a copy of the ingredients list so that we may verify any questionable products. Please send homemade baked goods with an ingredient list so that we may verify that items do not contain nuts or traces of nuts.

  • Sunscreen
Please ensure that your child brings sufficient sunscreen with them for the day. Please apply sunscreen on your children prior to dropping them off at camp. Counsellors will make frequent announcements to remind campers to re-apply.

  • Labelled water bottle

  • Extra clothing such as shorts, underwear, socks etc.
Please label extra clothing to avoid items getting lost.

  • Comfortable footwear
Please ensure that your child has comfortable shoes or footwear as the children are active throughout the day. Running shoes are the best footwear for Zoo Camp due to the physical nature of the camp, as there is a lot of walking each day of camp to and from animal exhibits/pavilions. Please avoid sending your child to camp in flip flops, crocs and/or insecure footwear.

  • Sun hat

  • Rainwear or umbrella

Labels/Lost & Found

Please label all items that your child brings to camp (e.g. clothing, jacket, water bottle, lunch bag, camera) with their first and last name. As there are over 200 children that attend camp each week, we will attempt to return any lost and found items to children who have items that are labelled. Any unclaimed, unlabelled items are sent to the Zoo's main Lost and Found at the end of each week. To check on lost items after your child's week of camp, please call 416-392-5905.

Valuables

We recommend that your child does not bring valuables to Zoo Camp. This includes cell phones, gaming devices, and cash. If a cell phone is necessary, it is expected that it remains off and in a camper's bag or backpack during the day. Should a camper need to get in touch with a parent/caregiver, our counsellors can assist in making that connection.

If you need to get a message to your child while they are at camp, please call the Zoo Camp office at 416-392-5947 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

Zoo Camp and/or the Toronto Zoo is not responsible for valuables and/or personal property that is lost, stolen or damaged.
