TORONTO ZOO WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY CELEBRATES GIVINGTUESDAY WITH “TORONTO ZOO HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS” FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF YOUR TORONTO ZOO

TORONTO, ON, Thursday, November 26, 2020: This GivingTuesday the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy will be inspiring generosity with “Toronto Zoo Home for the Holidays”, a fundraising campaign in support of your Toronto Zoo. The Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy’s “Home for the Holidays” campaign encourages the community to support their Toronto Zoo from the comfort of home by making a donation to the Conservancy’s Animal Enrichment Tree, adopting a Toronto Zoo animal, becoming a monthly donor or by purchasing a Toronto Zoo Membership (all Memberships will be extended for the duration of this closure).

“Providing the highest quality of care to ensure the health and welfare of over 5,000 animals remains the Toronto Zoo’s top priority,” said Beth Gilhespy, Executive Director, Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy. “The goal of our “Home for the Holidays” campaign is to support the operating costs and help care for the animals by offsetting revenues lost from not having our valued Zoo guests on site.”

In light of the announcement on November 20th by the Government of Ontario, your Toronto Zoo and Terra Lumina closed to public on November 23rd until further notice. “Since our closure announcement on the 23rd, so many people have shared kind words and great memories made at your Zoo – we can’t thank you enough for this outpouring of support,” said Dolf DeJong, Chief Executive Officer, Toronto Zoo. “In addition to supporting the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy’s “Home for the Holidays” campaign, we would like to encourage the public to continue sharing these stories using the hashtag #TZHomefortheHolidays.”
