CANADIAN ACCREDITED ZOO PARTNERS IN WILDLIFE CONSERVATION PRESENT

WEEKLY WILDLIFE WONDERS ALL SUMMER LONG!

TORONTO, ON, Thursday, July 8, 2021: Your Toronto Zoo is excited to be presenting a summer long series of wildlife conservation stories shared by accredited Zoo partners across Canada. Every Thursday beginning July 8th to August 26th tune in to accredited Zoo partner content throughout the day to learn about how these partners in wildlife conservation are working hard to help save and protect some of our planet’s most endangered wildlife.

With our planet facing a global crisis in wildlife survival with nearly one million species facing extinction due to habitat loss, human activity and climate change, it has never been more important to be connected to nature and to bring people together to effect positive change.

“It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone by now that my perspective on helping wildlife and wild spaces is simple – conservation is a team sport – and we need more players,” says Dolf DeJong, CEO, Toronto Zoo. “This strong partnership with our fellow accredited Canadian zoos is the essence of positioning conservation as a team sport. This is an exciting opportunity to for us to grow our efforts to connect people, animals and conservation science to fight extinction,” he added

Partner organizations and their respective conservation content platforms include:

  • Toronto Zoo:  Tune into Facebook Live every Thursday at 1:00pm (EST) for a dedicated story about the research and programs that are supporting critically endangered species around the world and how you can help!
  • Calgary Zoo: Check out  FacebookInstagram, and Twitter every Thursday to learn more about the important conservation work being done by the Calgary Zoo, to sustain wildlife and wild places, locally and globally,  and how you can help!
  • Assiniboine Zoo: Follow along on Facebook and Instagram every Thursday as we share videos, live content, and stories highlighting the important work being conducted on-site at the Zoo and in the field to support wildlife research and conservation.

Accredited zoos and aquariums are leaders in the protection of threatened and endangered species. It has never been more important to educate and share stories of how our organizations are working tirelessly to support conservation efforts and engage audiences with how they can also help.
