TORONTO, ON, Thursday, April 22, 2021: Your Toronto Zoo is proud to be named as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2021. Launched in 2007, this award recognizes employers with interesting environmental programs and Earth-friendly policies that actively involve their employees. The Canada’s Greenest Employers award recognizes employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations. These employers have developed exceptional sustainability initiatives – and are attracting people to their organization because of their environmental leadership.
Employers are evaluated using four main criteria: (1) unique environmental initiatives or programs they have developed; (2) whether they have been successful in reducing their own environmental footprint; (3) whether their employees are involved in these programs and contribute unique skills; and (4) whether their environmental initiatives have become linked to the employer’s public identity, attracting new employees or customers. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
“We are honoured that your Toronto Zoo has been chosen as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2021,” said Dolf DeJong, Chief Executive Officer, Toronto Zoo. “Your Zoo has worked hard to create a workplace culture of environmental awareness for our employees and volunteers. We are helping people build a conservation minded identity to share with our guests and community to effect change inside and outside of our facility. We are so proud of our team and are committed to continuing to work with partners to reduce our sites impact while building environmental literacy,” he added.
