WHAT: Born late on Monday, March 7th, 2005, our newest Zoobaby represents Charles' and Samantha's fifth child. The birth is just in time for the Zoo's Madagascar March Break Madness, from Friday, March 11th to Thursday, March 24th! African Rainforest Pavilion Supervisor Dianne Devison reports that Mom and baby are doing just fine. The gestation period of the Western Lowland Gorilla is 265 days. The infant's birth weight is approximately 1.92 kg. Western Lowland Gorillas are endangered in their natural habitat, the Lowland Rainforests of Central Africa. The baby's sex will be confirmed at a later date.
