REMEMBERING CECILIA ZHANG
TORONTO ZOO UNVEILS MEMORIAL PLAQUE

Toronto, Ontario, October 6th, 2004:Toronto Zoo today unveiled a memorial plaque in the new Kids Zoo. The plaque, which reads "I also wish that I have all the animals in the world to be my friend and all of my friends could visit them.", will be seen by thousands of children, reminding them of a sensitive young girl who loved animals. Cecilia's former school-mates from Seneca Hill Public School participated in the ceremonies along with Councillor Raymond Cho, Toronto Zoo Board Chair and Councillor Olivia Chow.

Zoo officials further announced that the donations to the Toronto Zoo accumulated through the Cecilia Memorial Fund, will be used to purchase a veterinary ultrasound system for use in the Zoo's Animal Health Centre and Reproductive Program. The Animal Health Centre provides round-the-clock care for thousands of animals in need.

The Cecilia Memorial Fund was created to honour Cecilia and raised funds for three of the things she loved most: Seneca Hill Public School, The Royal Conservatory of Music, and the Toronto Zoo.

We invite the public to stop by the Kids Zoo, spend a quiet moment of remembrance for Cecilia, and enjoy the animal residents. The Kids Zoo is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. until October 11, 2004.
