ORANGUTAN AWARENESS WEEK
November 5th to 11th, 2006
Who: The Toronto Zoo's eight Sumatran orangutans; males Dinding and Molek, females Puppe, Jahe, Sekali, Ramai; babies Budi and Kembali, Toronto Zoo Staff, Volunteers, and you and your family!
What/Why: This species is in danger of extinction with as few as 7,000 remaining in the wild on the Island of Sumatra. Here's how you can help and learn more:
  • Watch a video featuring Zoo Keepers training orangutans
  • Check out great orangutan artefacts like skulls, hair, even bedding
  • Enjoy orangutan artwork
  • Buy a print of an orangutan's hand - all proceeds go to support the Sumatran Orangutan Society
  • Meet the Orangutan Keeper daily at 1:00 pm to learn more about these incredible primates
When: Sunday, November 5th to Saturday, November 11th from 10am to 2:00 pm weekdays, 11am to 3pm weekends..
