Goodbye Toronto. Hello Winnipeg! The Toronto Zoo confirms that "Humphrey", their one-year old polar bear cub, will be embarking on an exciting journey to a new, state-of-the-art home at the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg. The last, confirmed, chance to see "Humphrey" will be Monday, February 16, 2015. This move for Humphrey signifies the next step in his behavioural development. In his first year, Toronto Zoo staff worked towards transitioning a dependent newborn into an independent youngster. The next step is for him to be socialized with other polar bears to further his development towards becoming an adult bear. Toronto Zoo is inviting visitors to come and say farewell to "Humphrey" and will be offering a variety of polar bear themed activities leading up to his departure. As well you can take in two special Polar Bear keeper talks, 12noon and 3pm, this coming weekend on February 7 and 8, as well as during our For The Love Of Family Weekend February 14-16, 2015. Don't miss your chance to come out and say goodbye to "Humphrey" and wish him all the best. Why not bring a goodbye card out and we'll post it at the Polar Bear Exhibit! The Toronto Zoo would like to thank Symcor and Coca-Cola for their on-going support of the Toronto Zoo's Polar Bear Breeding Program. "Humphrey" is the latest success story of the Toronto Zoo's participation in the Species Survival Plan (SSP). For more information please CLICK HERE.
