Orangutan Awareness Weekend

The Toronto Zoo is dedicating a full weekend to Sumatran orangutan awareness. Come learn about Canada’s only Sumatran orangutan ‘congress’ at our daily 1:00 pm Keeper Talk August 26th and 27th and check out our interpretive station featuring orangutan artifacts and artwork. The wild orangutan population has faced 80% habitat loss, with 40% of their total habitat lost in the last 20 years. Find out what you can do to help this critically endangered species.

PLUS, this is a particularly special Orangutan Awareness Weekend as Puppe, a female Sumatran orangutan at the Toronto Zoo, is celebrating her 50th year!

It's A Happy BEAR-thday as Da Mao turns another year older and celebrates his last birthday at the Toronto Zoo!
