TORONTO ZOO IS GEARING UP FOR FEBRUARY BEING POLAR BEAR MONTH AT THE ZOO!

Toronto Zoo is proud to be a leader in polar bear conservation and a champion for Canada's vulnerable majestic species.

Toronto Zoo is involved in collaborative research projects with multiple accredited zoos and organizations to help better understand polar bear reproductive biology, nutrition and behaviour studies to provide valuable information to support polar bear education, research and conservation efforts both at the Zoo and in the wild. Some of these organizations include Polar Bears International (PBI), Parks Canada, the North American Polar Bear Species Survival Plan (SSP), and Acres for the Atmosphere.

The Toronto Zoo is enjoying all things polar bear this February! Join us at our annual Polar Bear Fest and Move Your Paws Fundraiser, all taking place Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Polar bears will be taking over the Panda Interpretive Centre from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and visitors will be able to take part in 'cool' fun and educational activities that help to educate, raise awareness, and support this threatened Canadian species. Plus, Join us for two special presentations: Special Presentation #1 Training & Hand-Rearing Polar Bears (*Pre-registration required) 10:00 am to 11:30 am and #2 Transportation of a Polar Bear (*Pre-registration required) 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm both taking place in the Education Auditorium.  Tickets are $15 per Member and $20 per Non-Member plus General Admission fee* CLICK HERE to register today!

The Zoo is also hosting the 5th Annual Move Your Paws For The Polar Bear Cause 1K & 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, February 24, 2018. Join the cause and move YOUR paws to help one of the world's most vulnerable species! Open to all runners, walkers and fitness folk of all ages and abilities. Bundle up and bring the whole family for a day of outdoor fun, fitness and fundraising. All proceeds raised from the event go towards Polar Bear Conservation. One of life's greatest gifts is the gift of a child, and being a parent is one of the most important and honourable jobs around! The mystery of birth, and parenthood, has been explored throughout the ages, and it's no surprise that many of the most interesting discoveries have come from the animal world.

Join us for an evening of fascinating facts on parenthood in the wild, where you will learn facts such as how the male sea horse, and not the female, carries their young or that giant pandas only have 72 hours in which they can mate!
