Er Shun, Canada's only female adult giant panda, celebrated her tenth birthday earlier this morning with special enrichment from her Keepers! Of course Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue joined in and “helped” her enjoy her special treats – and make a mess!

This footage was captured on the Toronto Zoo’s TELUS Giant Panda Cam – available to watch live daily from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm.

Bat Awareness Day

Saturday, August 19, 2017
10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Front Courtyard by the carousel

Ontario’s bats are in peril. In the past five years, half of our bat species have been added to the endangered list. Come to our Bat Awareness Day event to learn about these remarkable animals and the work the Zoo is doing to help save them. We will dispel some of the myths that surround bats and teach you about their important role in the ecosystem.

Activities include:

  • Learn about the eight species of bat in Ontario
  • See and learn about the equipment we use to study bats
  • See our model bat houses and learn about installing your own
  • Crafts and colouring – make your own bat mask to wear around the Zoo!

We hope to see you there. Even if you are scared of bats – we might just change your mind!
