November Enrichment Extravaganza
What's that up in the tree? It's a tree kangaroo!
Native to the montane rainforests of New Guinea, the endangered Matschie's tree kangaroo is closely related to typical kangaroos - they just live a very different lifestyle. Instead of hopping around on the ground, tree kangaroos spend most of their time in the trees, using their long tail for balance and their sharp claws and incredibly strong forelimbs for climbing.
Join us in the Australasia Pavilion every Saturday in November at 1:30 pm to meet our tree kangaroo and see how keepers use enrichment to encourage natural behaviours like climbing and reaching, just like tree kangaroos would do in the wild.
