Cute Alert!

We have an exciting announcement! Meet one of our newest additions to Australasia, "Sydney" a female kangaroo joey born to mom "Josie" and dad "Robbo". This new joey is about 13 months old but we don't actually know her exact birthday. Kangaroo joeys are about the size of a jelly bean when they are born and do most of their growing in mom's pouch. Because of this, our keepers only got their first glimpse of her in February when she started poking her head out of the pouch. We used this milestone, which normally occurs around ten months of age, to estimate her birth date as April 2014.

"Sydney" is now spending time out of the pouch and is seen more and more away from mom. Be sure to watch for her in the kangaroo habitat next to the Australasia Pavilion!

Meet The Toronto Zoos Newest Residents!

Abercrombie (Abe), Benedict (Ben), and Charleston (Chuck) are three of the newest residents in the Zoo’s African Savanna, visible on the walk to the Canadian Domain. These three brothers are the first blue wildebeest (also known as white-bearded gnus) that we have ever housed at the Zoo. This species is known for their spectacular migration across the Serengeti and for kicking up their heels in excitement. These antelope bachelors seem just as excited to be here as we are to have them!

During our Enrichment Extravaganza at the Raccoon Exhibit in the Canadian Domain at 1:30pm this Saturday for a special enrichment feeding.
