Operation Zoo Field Trip:  Exploring Nature's Classroom

The AVIVA Community Fund, "Operation Zoo Field Trip:  Exploring Nature's Classroom" is a project which would provide funding to bring students from disadvantaged communities/low income areas to the Zoo for a class visit. This is our last opportunity to qualify for the semi-finals.  Each person that logs in to create an account gets 15 votes, one per day for the duration of the battle round.  We need as many people as we can to vote once per day, every day, from November 11 to November 25, if we're to make into the semi-finals.

All you need to do is register with your email on the link below, locate our project, and begin voting! Remember, it's important to login and vote each day, otherwise a vote is lost, and we need all the help we can get!

Up to four dependent family members may accompany Military personnel to receive half price admission to the Toronto Zoo. Retired Canadian Military members must show retired Military ID/Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) card to receive half price admission for themselves and their families (up to 4). All the above offers expire November 30, 2013 and cannot be combined with any other offer.
The newest and tallest addition to the Toronto Zoo Family is Mstari, pronounced 'mi-starry', our new female Masai giraffe calf. Twiga, the Zoo's 23 year old female Masai giraffe, gave birth on Thursday, October 17, 2013. The name Mstari means 'Stripes' in Swahili and was chosen by Zoo Keepers in memory of her late father 'Stripes' who passed away September 29, 2012 at the age of 21. This newest addition to the Toronto Zoo family is happy and healthy, and mother Twiga is also doing very well. Make a point of stopping by the African Savanna to see our delightful little giraffe girl, Mstari browsing happily with Mom Twiga and Aunt Ginetta who will be out, from time to time, in the yard, weather permitting.

Q: Why was the giraffe late?
A: Because he got caught in a giraffic jam!
