Da Mao, our male giant panda, is turning 5 years old and we want you to help us celebrate! Join us for panda birthday activities in the Wildlife Marquee located in the Discovery Zone. The birthday fun takes place daily from 10am to 4pm and is FREE with admission.


Visitors can participate in a special scavenger hunt to find some of Da Mao's favorite animal friends and find out what they all have in common! Once the scavenger hunt is complete head back to the Wildlife Marquee tent where you will receive a special thank you from Da Mao. Be sure to participate in panda arts and crafts, interpretive stations, games, trivia, photo ops, complimentary face painting and more! To help make Da Mao feel special on his first Canadian Birthday why not bring him a special birthday card. Also, anyone who shares Da Mao's September 1st birthday will receive complimentary admission* that day.

International Vulture Awareness Day

Discovery Zone, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Did you know that turkey vultures aren't really vultures? Did you know that vultures poop on their legs to cool themselves? Did you know that vultures can soar for six hours without flapping their wings? Want to learn more cool facts? Come to the zoo on September 1st for the Third Annual International Vulture Awareness Day and see firsthand how the Toronto Zoo is helping vultures in the wild. Remember, bald is beautiful!


Sunday, September 1, 2013 Black Footed Ferret Day

Americas Pavilion, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Come and learn about this critically endangered species and our successful breeding and release program that the Toronto Zoo has been involved in since 1992.There will be educational activities/information and awareness items available for purchase to help support black-footed ferret conservation as well as visits from our Domestic ferret friends at the special Meet the Black-Footed Ferret Keeper talks at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

The Toronto Zoo's Seniors Day

The Toronto Zoo loves Seniors, on September 9th Seniors, 65+, will receive one complimentary admission and one Zoomobile ride all day pass, 10% off at our Zootique and Panda Shops and 50% off a Toronto Zoo One Year Senior Membership*. Seniors can purchase, at Peacock CafĂ©, a sandwich and a small coffee or tea for only $3.99 plus tax!  Please note that the first Zoomobile departs from the main front entrance station at 9:15am and the last Zoomobile of the day departs at 5:30pm. Event subject to change without notice.

Toronto Zoo's Mobile Giving Has Launched in Support of Conservation!
The Toronto Zoo launched its Mobile Giving program in early August - and YOU can help support the Zoo with a simple text message. Making a $5.00 donation to support conservation at the Toronto Zoo is an easy as texting ZOOPANDA to 41010. A one-time donation will be added to the donor's mobile phone bill.
