The Toronto Zoo Is OPEN For Family Day-
Bring your whole herd to the Zoo!

Toronto Zoo Weekly Feature - Wednesday, 2013-02-13

Why not celebrate Family Day Weekend by visiting with some of the Zoo's featured families such as the Western lowland gorillas, orangutans, Komodo dragons and hairy-nosed wombats to name a few. Worried the weather is too chilly then grab a hot chocolate and head off to one of our five indoor pavilions. Still celebrating Chinese New year - 2013 year of the Snake? Check out some of our coolest snakes and learn more about these fascinating creatures.

There's no better way to spend quality time with the family than a visit with our Zoo family!

Interact with and inspire visitors with fun, educational activities at the Zoo's new Giant Panda Exhibit and throughout the Zoo site, and assist at special events.

Parent and Tot Program

Saturday, February 16, Sunday, February 17 &

Monday, February 18

Herds, Packs and Flocks..It's how we say Family!

Families always look out for each other. Babies and Moms, Dads and even Grandparents make up animal families in the wild. Come and find out how they share and play, stay safe and grow in their wild world. Parents will take part in this interactive learning experience helping their youngster discover how animal families survive in the wild. Program will consist of educational playtime, craft(s), activities, songs/poems and a short animal encounter.

One child to one adult ratio is ideal; however, each adult may bring up to two children of program age from the same family for the cost listed below. Additional adults are welcome to attend; general admission applies at the front gate.

Only those pre-registered for the program may attend.

COST: $18 Zoo Member, $20 Non-Member

(Cost includes one adult and up to two children from the same family).

A group of gorillas living together is called a "troop." There can be 5 to 30 gorillas in one troop, led by a strong, experienced male known as a silverback. "Charles" is the Toronto Zoo's dominate male silverback and leads our gorilla troop in the African Rainforest Pavilion. Visit "Charles" and the rest of the Western lowland gorilla's this Family Day weekend with your own troop!
