TORONTO, ON, Wednesday August 17, 2016: Viewers from around the world can now watch giant pandas live on the new TELUS Giant Panda Cam only at the Toronto Zoo. This will be hosted on the Toronto Zoo website and enable viewers to watch live footage of giant panda, Er Shun and her two cubs Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue in high definition through TELUS’ content distribution network for fast, high quality viewing from any device. Viewers can watch a TELUS designed live stream (9:00am - 6:30pm) and/or pre-recorded video available 24/7 at torontozoo.com/pandacam from pan-tilt zoom cameras positioned in the pandas’ indoor habitat. These cameras were donated and installed by PELCO by Schneider Electric and Security Technology Services when the pandas arrived in 2013. Viewers will observe the same picture as our giant panda behavioural specialist, who operates the camera for optimum viewing.

"We are proud to partner with TELUS, a national leader in telecommunications and service, who demonstrates social responsibility through environmental stewardship programs and interest in preserving wildlife. With the successful births of the first giant panda cubs born in Canada last year, we are grateful to TELUS for providing this opportunity for people to watch these cubs grow during their limited time in Toronto. We hope this will instill the desire in all viewers to learn more about saving this flagship species." - John Tracogna, CEO, Toronto Zoo.

The Toronto Zoo has been committed to saving species since 1974, with commitment to the giant panda conservation breeding program at the Toronto Zoo since 2013. The Toronto Zoo takes pride in educating and engaging those who take an active interest in ways to save and protect species. Giant pandas are listed as Endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Endangered Species and the TELUS Giant Panda Cam is an excellent initiative to connect people to the giant pandas.

To meet these captivating creatures in real life, visit the Toronto Zoo, open all year round, or learn more at torontozoo.com or the Zoo’s Facebook or Twitter accounts.
