TORONTO, ON, Monday, March 19, 2018: On Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm the Giant Panda Experience saw its final visitors and closed its doors after five incredible years at the Toronto Zoo.

Media please note that our Giant Panda Staff will no longer be available for interviews as they will be focusing entirely on the preparations for the pandas’ transport to Calgary and Da Mao, Er Shun, Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue will no longer be viewable to the public or media. Details on the giant pandas’ departure will be made available on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

We would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the public and the media for their incredible support over the past five years and for the overwhelming outpouring of support and affection for the giant pandas throughout their last week here. The Board of Management of the Toronto Zoo, our staff and volunteers wish Da Mao, Er Shun, Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue all the best for another wonderful five years at the Calgary Zoo.

Hop on over to the Toronto Zoo this Easter weekend for some ‘egg-straordinary’ family fun! Bring your camera and have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny on Friday and Saturday or with one of our adorable Hatchimals on Sunday and Monday at the Courtyard Stage. There are two photo sessions which run 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm all weekend. Please note lines will be closed at 2:45pm each day.

Also, visitors can check out our animals and their ‘egg-cellent’ enrichment. Did you know that there are many animals who eat eggs in the wild? For some, this makes up the bulk of their diets while others will opportunistically raid birds’ nests in times of low food availability. For those animals that do not eat eggs, but instead would spend time foraging for other items, we can offer these in various methods to encourage them to display their own unique natural behaviours. At the Toronto Zoo our Behavioural Husbandry Program strives to provide our animals with a multitude of natural experiences that best mimic their wild counterparts and maintain optimal health and welfare.
