Walk among the kangaroos and wallabies

Western Grey Kangaroo

One of the largest marsupials, this species is identifiable by its grey-brown fur and a tail that darkens towards the tip. Native to much of southern Australia, the Western Grey Kangaroo is found in a wide range of habitats, from woodlands to grasslands. They live in social groups called 'mobs.'

Red-necked Wallaby

Distinguished by its grizzled fur and grey tail, the telltale reddish fur on its neck gives the species its common name. Native to Eastern Australia and Tasmania, this wallaby is most often found in coastal heathlands and wet eucalyptus forests. Unlike kangaroos, these wallabies tend to be less social and are often found on their own.

Kanagaroo joey and mom

We're excited to reopen our Kangaroo Walk-Thru, and have been working diligently to ensure a comfortable environment and seamless transition for our kangaroo family. This includes thoughtfully designed off-habitat areas where the kangaroos can retreat at their leisure, and gradually building the kangaroos’ confidence and familiarity with visitors.

During your visit, we kindly ask that you stay on the designated pathway and maintain a calm presence, respecting the kangaroos' space. By doing so, you're contributing to both their well-being and your own memorable encounter.

Kangaroos are wild animals, and you are visiting their home.
For your safety, as well as the safety of the animals, please adhere to the rules below:

Any individual(s) found breaking the above rules will be immediately removed from the Kangaroo Walk-Thru and may potentially be asked to leave Toronto Zoo (at the discretion of Toronto Zoo staff and security).
