White and Greater One-Horned Rhino Behind-The-Scenes Tours in Celebration of World Rhino Month

September 7 and 8 & September 28 and 29, 2019
#OnlyARhinoNeedsItsHorn

WALK ON THE WILD SIDE and join our keepers for a hands-on, interactive encounter with some of the largest animals at the Zoo!

Imagine standing next to a 4,000lb mega herbivore, appreciating its size and strength while also seeing how incredibly gentle and unique each of our rhinos can be. Come and meet our Greater One-Horned AND/OR White Rhinos up-close for a true once in a lifetime experience!

Head behind-the-scenes with our rhino keepers, where you will have an opportunity to feed and meet the individual rhinos, plus learn about their species-specific behaviours, as well as some individual characteristics that make each one of them truly unique.

Purchasing a ticket to our special World Rhino behind-the-scenes tours, not only gives you a chance to get to know the Toronto Zoo’s rhinos but also helps to save species in the wild. Your tour and experience supports the amazing conservation efforts taking place to save wild rhinos. 100% of the proceeds of ticket sales are in support of the International Rhino Foundation (www.rhinos.org) and the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya (www.lewa.org), helping to save all five remaining species of rhino living in African and Asian countries.

Know a rhino superfan? Consider supporting our conservation fundraising effort with the purchase of both tours back-to-back and get the extra insight into how different Greater one-horned and White rhinos actually are! You can book both tours on the same day for $150!

To celebrate your time shared with the rhinos, you will receive a themed memento to take home with you, enabling you to share your experience with family and friends for years to come.

Behind-The-Scenes Tours:

Space is limited for each encounter with a maximum of 10 people per rhino species per time slot per day.

THREAT OF EXTINCTION: Each day, three to five rhinos are poached on the planet with over 1,000 animals gone forever each year!  Here is how your support can help #fightextinction:

$75 ONE rhino encounter (white or greater one-horned) with proceeds going to:

  • Supplying a coat and first aid supplies for one member of a rhino patrol unit ensuring rhino security in protected habitats
  • Providing one high-quality harness for an anti-poaching canine ranger
  • Providing two pairs of quality boots for rhino protection units that walk hundreds of miles each year in harsh conditions to keep rhinos safe
  • Providing memory cards for cameras used to monitor the rarest rhinos on the planet to help ensure their safety

$150 Book TWO rhino encounters (white AND greater one-horned) and additional proceeds will go to:

  • Providing rangers with a backpack of supplies
  • Providing one week’s salary for a rhino security ranger
  • Providing fuel for a rhino protection units boat to patrol rivers and waterways of national parks where rhinos live
  • Cover the approximate weekly cost of providing care for one highly trained anti-poaching tracker dog

** Tour will be at least 30 minutes so if booking both tours, be sure to choose times that are at least 1 hour apart to ensure you have time to get to the other tour (you will have to walk to each location).
