4.7. THE A-TEAM
(Level: 2 : 4 : 10 acad : 10 appl :: Adaptations)
Purpose: To recognize that animals have specific adaptations required for survival in a wetland
environment.
What You Need: paper :: pencil :: imagination
What You Do:
- Select an animal from the A-Team listed below and create a story or myth as to how that animal obtained its
adaptation for survival in a wetland.
- Or, select an animal of your choice that has a specific adaptation which enables it to survive in a wetland
and write about it. How the:
- Duck got webbed feet
- Beaver got a flat tail
- Great Blue Heron got long legs
- Bullfrog got a sticky tongue
- Crayfish got its claws
- Turtle got a shell
- Water Boatman got long, paddle-shaped legs
- Leopard Frog got spots
- Catfish got barbels
- Rattlesnake got its rattle
