Presentation – Exploring Wildlife Conservation@ the
Toronto Zoo

Grade Level:

9 to 12

Price:

$12 per student ($3 program fee + $9 student admission fee) *Includes HST

Program Times:

10:00 am, 11:15 am, or 12:30 pm (~55 minutes in duration)

Have you ever wondered what it takes to run a conservation-based zoological facility? This presentation allows students to discover the critical role that the Toronto Zoo plays in ensuring the ongoing survival of many of the world’s most vulnerable species and their habitats. While learning about several of the Toronto Zoo’s conservation projects, students will develop a deeper understanding of the science behind managing endangered wildlife populations through reproductive programs and the Species Survival Plan.



Half-day Workshop – Climate Change

Grade Level:

9 - 12

Price:

$13 per student ($4 program fee + $9 student admission fee) *Includes HST

Program Times:

10:00 am - 11:30 am (1.5 hours)
or
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm (1.5 hours)
*program start time can be adjusted slightly to match school's arrival time

Format:

Guided tour, discussions, hands-on biofacts (e.g. furs, feather, skulls, etc.), and activities

18-30 students per workshop
*For groups under 18 students, a minimum program fee ($72 per workshop) will apply.

What is climate change and what impact is it having on the world's biodiversity? Touring the Tundra Trek, Americas, and Australasia Pavilions, students will learn about the natural and human causes contributing to climate change and the direct impact that climate change is having on the species living in those environments. As they participate in the "Polar Bear Challenge," students will be able to experience the effects of climate change first hand. Designed to meet expectations from the grade 10 science curriculum.



Green Technology Tour

Start times vary to meet your needs. Tours are approximately 1 hour in length.

Learn about green initiatives at the Toronto Zoo! A Toronto Zoo educator will lead your group on an hour long guided tour focusing on both sustainable development practices and some of the green projects that the Toronto Zoo has implemented, including green roofs and geothermal heating.
