Aquatic Litter

Participate in the Turtle Conservation Project and learn more about Ontario's turtles. As herbivores, carnivores and scavengers turtles play an important role in aquatic ecosystems. Loss of wetland habitat, road mortalities, pollution, collection for the pet trade and for food, and predation threaten Ontario's turtles. Turtle populations cannot sustain this threat. Six of eight turtle species in Ontario are listed with COSEWIC (Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada), but YOU can help!
Learn more about threatened species conservation through our Urban Turtle Initiative, register to take part in Adopt-A-Pond's Ontario Turtle Tally, learn more about community initiatives to save turtles, and get involved!
